Sadness............religious content

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

I suffer from clinical depression. Does that make me a sinner? Yes, but not because I'm depressed. I'm sinful because I am human. I have had fellow Christians tell me my faith was weak and that is why I have depression. I'm sorry but no one knows my faith but God. Do not let anyone say that to you if you suffer from depression! Some depression is only helped by medicine. My relationship with God is just as good. There are times when everyone feels sad. It is a normal emotion! Jesus felt sad. Remember the night before His crucifixion? He felt sad. The shortest bible verse is "Jesus wept." If you are struggling with sadness or depression that won't go away I urge you to seek Pastoral counseling as well as a visit to your Doctor. You are not weak if you have to take antidepressants! God gave us Doctors and the ability to create medications to help our sufferings. Pray for God to help ease your unhappiness and know that you are not alone!

  1. Amen, this is so true! I experience this from my own family members. Like we are evil because we are so depressed too often. And then they don't like it that I am so "weak" that I do take meds. I can't win for trying. I have the same relationship with Jesus whether depressed or not.

  2. Those people are toxic for thinking that way. God loves you no matter what!
