Everyone experiences jealousy at some time in their life. It's inevitable because we are human. We always want what others have, never content with what the Lord has already blessed us with. Jealousy goes back to the very beginning of time. Satan was jealous of God's power and became rebellious. Cain killed Abel because he was jealous. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery because of jealousy. Nothing good comes out of this emotion. It is a very evil emotion as it can consume us. People are murdered, families are torn apart, pride overtakes us and the list goes on. God knows this and that is why it is listed in the 10 commandments! Thou shalt not covet (desire) thy neighbors house, wife, servants, ox or donkey or anything belonging to your neighbor. We must remind ourselves daily of the Lord's blessing in our life. Look at the movie stars; they have all the money in the world but should we be jealous of them? Very few of them find marital happiness, their money buys things but they are still not content and spend more and more. Re-evaluate yourself and your own life and believe and accept who you are and what you have. These material things and bodies remain after death! Wouldn't it be better to focus on what is more important? God's love for you and growing in His word.
I have been feeling jealous of someone a lot lately and it is not a fun emotion. I need to reflect on these words to get over my feelings of envy and jealousy. I know I have many readers who are not religious/Christian and and I know these kind of posts bother you but I have to post what I have to post. It is on my heart so I hope you understand.
